CHARLÂ DAVIS
Hello!
I’m Charl (Charlotte), I’m 24 and from Hull in East Yorkshire. I lost my Dad to pancreatic cancer in my second year of University, during the week of exams.
Just like most people that are learning to live with grief, I’ve felt almost all emotions possible. Anger, sadness, heartache, resentment, bitterness, helplessness and much more. But through meeting people in very similar situations – whilst no two situations are exactly the same – you see that you’re not always alone in feeling these things. Chatting to people who have experienced what you have, brings an element of freedom to say things that you might feel you can’t say to others who haven’t lost a parent.
Having struggled with depression since the loss of my Dad, there have been a lot of ups and downs. Sometimes it’s hard to explain how the loss of any significant figure in your life can impact every single ounce of your life going forward. I find that exercise is a really good coping mechanism for me. It’s a way to channel energy that would otherwise just go on over thinking and dwelling. Ultimately, I think for the most part, grieving and grooving is about finding what helps you on this path with grief. And I hope we can help you find that here. You might feel completely alone at times, but we promise you, you never are.
