KYA HANY
A big hello to anybody and everybody reading this!

My name is Kya (for those of you wondering it's pronounced kai-a) and I am a 24 year old English/Egyptian currently residing in Cairo.

I lost my Mom in 2017 during my third year at University whilst studying abroad in Russia. It is something I try to be as open about as possible, as I think it is so important to break the taboo and stigma around loss and grief. I hope that by sharing my experiences with you, I will be able to make someone out there feel a little less alone.

Since losing my Mom I have used different types of therapy to help me, which is how I met some of the wonderful people here at G&G. I use writing as a tool to express my thoughts and feelings, especially when they get too overwhelming, and find comfort in relating my grief to films and music.

It is important to always remember that experiences such as these are never linear, and that it is okay to go through things you once thought you'd overcome. As long as you keep grieving and (just as importantly) keep grooving, you can only grow stronger.

Sending you all of my love and strength.
